*Be Water, My Friend: Melodysheep Remixes Bruce Lee on YouTube

Among many other things, Bruce Lee left a bright legacy of philosophy that has and will live long after his passing. The musical sensation known as Melodysheep has helped to perpetuate, honor, and showcase Bruce Lee’s legacy through his latest video release: “Be Like Water: A Bruce Lee Remix.” Who better to showcase the teachings and the wonder of classic Kung Fu films than “The Dragon” himself?

When I showed this video to my girlfriend, she had never seen a Bruce Lee or any other classic Kung Fu movie, so this was her first introduction into the world of Kung Fu philosophy. The beauty of the internet is that we can share, preserve, and honor our great heroes of yesteryear, like Bruce Lee and other Kung Fu legends. This video encapsulates the bright side of the internet in the sense that it proves that the internet can be used as a tool for good, and not just a medium for Facebooking and watching cat videos.

For those of you who have not heard of Melodysheep, that’s alright because now is the perfect time to break into his videos. Spend some time on YouTube and listen to his other songs. You won’t regret it. Melodysheep is the online persona of John Boswell, a musician and science geek (in the most flattering sense of the word) who broke big into the online music scene with his 2009 hit “A Glorious Dawn,” which featured clips from beloved Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking’s many educational films. Melodysheep is famous for mixing together beautiful music videos from educational film clips starring the great scientific and philosophical minds from the last century. He autotunes their voices and syncs the video so that it appears that they are singing rather than speaking normally.

You can find the new video by Melodysheep featuring Bruce Lee on YouTube, or by clicking below:

It has recently been taken down on Melodysheep’s YouTube profile page, but you can still find it on YouTube simply by doing a search for “Bruce Lee Remix be water my friend,” and you can pull up a copy. The fine folks at Fortune Star Media, who own the rights to the Bruce Lee footage in the video, have asked that Melodysheep take the video down, which is a shame, but that is their right so there’s not much we can do.

This just goes to show that there is a lot of good out there in the wilds of the internet jungle; you just have to know where to find it. As Bruce Lee says: “Don’t concentrate on the finger, or you will miss all the heavenly glory.” Use this video to show some previously unknown heavenly glory to a friend or loved one who has not had the honor of being a classic Kung Fu film fan. They will be glad you did.
